Praying the Lord's Prayer

Praying the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father

Thank you for being our loving Father.

Thank you for the privilege of being able to call You Father, King, Saviour, and Lord of all that has been made.

I come to You because I know You are good and You care for me.

Help me to discover afresh and believe what a faithful God you are.

Thank forYour promise that you will never leave me or forsake me.

 Who art in heaven

Worshipped by the angels, archangels and alI the company of heaven.

I worship You in awe and wonder and in acknowledgement of Your holiness, and yet I can know You as my Father and friend and can run into Your arms of love and Grace. (God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense)

Hallowed be Your name

I honour You Lord. (sing a song about His holiness - Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, etc).

(One of the most striking aspects of our worship is that we worship a God of self-revelation and not an unknown god).

I open my heart to worship You as Your loving child.

In You Lord, I put my trust.

Yahweh, the great I Am.

Your Kingdom come

help me to show Your love to others by being Your hands, feet and mouthpiece.

Help me to walk according to Your will.

May Your Kingdom come, for the poor to have enough to eat, education to be free to all children, health care available to all who need it, for all to have affordable housing and may Christ’s love abound in all our hearts.

Maranatha. Come Lord Jesus. Pour out Your Spirit, we pray.

Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven

let it be on earth as it is in heaven.-

Christ to be at the centre and everything else in our lives, homes, city and nations- all bowing to His Kingship and live according to Your word.

Father, when I have to make a choice between listening to You and listening to people, give me the courage to always choose You and Your will. (Acts 5:29 - We must obey God rather than men).

Thank You Jesus for bringing in the new Kingdom whilst You were here on earth, showing the new way of loving God and our neighbour and showing His love to others.  See Revelations Ch. 21 for the new Kingdom; coming to transform everything, coming to bring the whole of creation into a new state of being.   Evil, decay and death will be done away with.

Give us today our daily bread

Thank You for the food we receive from your table of bounty, meeting our daily needs.   Thank You for the great variety of food we eat, enjoy and that sustains us.  I’m grateful to all those who produce our food, market it and make it available to us.

Help us to be mindful of those in our world who don’t have enough to eat.

Think about supporting a Christian organisation (Christian Aid, Tearfund, Open Doors, etc.) who are reaching out to where the need is most urgent.

Forgive us our sins

Romans 3:23. All have sinned and fallen short of His glory.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners Christ died for us”.

Lord, Saviour, Redeemer, King and Shepherd, thank You for the  Cross and all that You endured to set us free from sin, guilt and shame.  Thank You  for the hope that You have put in our hearts and the promise of eternal life.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”. 1John1:9

Lord Jesus, help me to face every challenge in life and never run from You or anything I need to deal with.

As we forgive those who sin against us

In Matthew 18 :21-22 Peter asked Jesus “How many times must I forgive my brother when he sins against me; seven times ?”    Jesus replied “seventy times seven”.   Thank you Lord that You have forgiven us for all that we have ever done wrong from the beginning.  Therefore we must forgive others unconditionally.   Thank You Holy Spirit who gives me the courage and will to forgive, and when I fail, You help me to get up again.

Thank You that when we’re right with You, You give me peace of mind.

Lead us not into temptation

Lord thank You that you came to live amongst us to experience life as  a human, suffered every temptation known to man, and remained without sin.

You have given us Your Holy Spirit to strengthen us against temptation, and have promised that we will never be tempted beyond our endurance.  Entrust yourself to God and He will protect you.

But deliver us from evil

Remember that there is a struggle going on.   1Peter 5 :8 “Be alert and of sober mind.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”  Resist him by the powerful Word of God, as Jesus did in the wilderness.  Humble yourself before God.

For Yours in the Kingdom

Thank You for establishing it whilst you were here on earth.  Help me to follow where You lead.

Psalm 51 v12 “Restore to me  the joy of your salvation  and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me”.

Thank You that you have given us the privilege of prayer so that we can be involved in the working out of Your Kingdom here on earth.  God wants us to change things and He is waiting for us to ask.   He holds everything in His hands, waiting – we have not because we ask not.

The power and the glory

There is none like You Lord God. You are exalted as  Head over all.

Worship Him for who He is.

“Yours Lord is the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth is yours”.

1 Chronicles 29:11.

For ever and ever,  Amen

Saviour Christ, in whose way of love lies the secret of all life and the hope of all people. We pray for quiet courage to match this hour. We did not choose to be born or to live in such an age; but let it’s problems challenge us, it’s discoveries exhilarate us, it’s. injustices anger us, it’s possibilities inspire us and it’s vigour renew us for Your kingdom’s sake.
